Having begun on Sunday October 31st, the conference will run until November 12th and has seen world leaders join together in Glasgow to discuss the actions needed to tackle climate change.

Xerox’s support of the UN’s print and copying services runs across the entire conference campus and covers all function events and country delegations from around the world. The company is also supplying a team of onsite engineering support staff from Glasgow and surrounding areas.

The majority of the devices provided have been remanufactured at Concept, a Xerox Business Solutions company near Glasgow in Clydebank.

Having been recognised for their security and functionality, the devices have also been awarded Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT), Blue Angel and ENERGY STAR ecolabels by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

As well as this, Xerox has provided FSC certified paper which along with used toner cartridges will be recycled through an Eco-box and Xerox’s Green World Alliance programme.

Printed pages will also be offset through the PrintReleaf Reforestation Program in which Xerox will plant a tree for every 8,333 pages of print.

Darren Cassidy, managing director of Xerox UK&I, comments: “Xerox has a proven legacy in supporting similar scale events throughout the UK, including the London Olympics 2012 and most recently the European Championships in Glasgow 2018, so we are delighted to be an official partner for COP26.

“Our appointment is a testament to our commitment to fighting climate change, whilst helping to make a positive difference on one of the world’s most pressing issues.”

We all need to make changes if we are to preserve the planet for our children and grandchildren and these businesses have pledged to make it easier for us all to do so

Once the conference is finished, Xerox will be working with Glasgow City Council and Procurement Scotland to donate the devices. A proportion have already been allocated to local charities and schools.

In addition to supporting the COP26 conference, Xerox has also been awarded the Terra Carta Seal by HRH The Prince of Wales in recognition of its commitment to sustainability.

HRH The Prince of Wales says: “The Terra Carta Seal recognises those organisations which have made a serious commitment to a future that is much more sustainable, and puts nature, people and the planet at the heart of the economy.

“We all need to make changes if we are to preserve the planet for our children and grandchildren and these businesses have pledged to make it easier for us all to do so.”
