The Foliant Multi-functional Inprinting Unit will now support Johnsons’ existing Foliant Taurus laminator

The company will use the device to support its existing Foliant Taurus laminator, also purchased from IFS.

John McMillan managing director of Johnsons, comments: “We wanted to cost effectively add short run and personalised foiling.

“This won’t take away the need for traditional foiling but it will easily handle all our short runs. The fact we don’t need to make a block will reduce costs and decrease turnaround times.

“We looked at adding two Caslon systems but then saw the Foliant solution at The Print Show it answered all our needs; it will make us more flexible with production.”

The Inprinting Unit retrofittable solution transforms output from Vega, Mercury and Taurus B3 and B2 laminators using the sleeking process, whereby the foil or varnish is applied to pre-printed black toner, with the sheet then able to be reprinted mono or four colour.

The machine runs a range of colours including gold, silver, red and green and a clear gloss for spot varnish, and is suitable for producing items such as corporate stationery, POS and book covers.
