Page Visions secures UK-first with Ashgate

Slough-based commercial printer Page Visions has become the first company in the UK to install a Fastbind Pureva Smart binder.

Page Visions also recently purchased a Fastbind Casematic A46Z Smart case-maker and Fastbind EVA XT hot melt binder from Ashgate

Purchased from Ashgate, the new machine complements the Fastbind Casematic A46Z Smart case-maker and Fastbind EVA XT hot melt binder that the firm also recently bought from Ashgate.

The Pureva Smart semi-automated binder has the ability to bind both soft and hard back books up to A3 portrait, with the choice of PUR or EVA glue adhesive applications.

The device offers the benefit of automation to users, with the operator inputting the parameters for the book with predefined programmes via the user interface on a 7” digital touch screen.

The machine then uses this information to create the best possible binding – with roughening, gluing and nipping functions – while the operator controls all of the critical steps to ensure they achieve the desired output.

The Fastbind equipment suits us perfectly because it is so easy to use and produces a quality product every time

Iwona Wytrzymala, finishing manager at Page Visions, comments: “The Fastbind equipment suits us perfectly because it is so easy to use and produces a quality product every time.

“This is very important because we have a large finishing department with 15 people in two shifts, operating all the Fastbind machines. Whenever they bring out something new where we can see the benefits of faster, easier and more consistent production, we always look at it first.”

On working with Ashgate, Wytrzymala adds: “We’ve known Ashgate and appreciated their service for so long. In the last seven years, we have bought seven machines from them, including case-makers, binders, gluing equipment and laminators, all of which are still operational.

“Sometimes we are so busy that we have to bring one of our older pieces of Fastbind equipment out of store and it works every time ”
