KBA backs Print Show as it delivers on promises

After delivering on its promises and exceeding expectations for its first two instalments, The Print Show 2017 is now reaping the benefit of its performance. Exhibitors new and old are committing early to the exhibition—with one of the print industry's biggest manufacturing brands Koenig & Bauer Group (KBA) the most recent company to confirm its attendance.

Organisers have said that The Print Show 2017 is on track to surpass the exhibitor attendance records set at last year’s event, as it is ahead of its sales numbers for this time in 2016

Taking place from October 11th to 13th at the International Centre in Telford, The Print Show will once again open its doors to the market, encouraging members from all corners of the industry to come along and find out about the very latest in print.

Organisers have already confirmed a number of companies have signed up, and will now be able to strengthen an expanding floorplan with the addition of new names as well as a number of major manufacturing brands that it will reveal in the coming weeks.

The first of these has been KBA, a leading innovator in the print industry, which has been responsible for developing many of the key advances in printing technology ever since its founders designed and built the first power-driven press for the Times of London in 1814.

Today, the Rapida series of sheet-fed litho presses combine cutting-edge technologies with robust build quality and precision engineering to create the most productive presses ever seen across all formats from B2 to Super-Large Format.

KBA is also the world's leading supplier of large-format presses and market-leader in the security printing sector. It is a major player in the newspaper and commercial web sectors and is the UK's second placed offset litho press supplier with a major presence in all sectors from general commercial print, packaging and POS to magazines and book printing. KBA is also expanding its digital printing press technology, partnering with the likes of Xerox to address this market segment. The KBA VariJET 106 is powered by Xerox and integrates Xerox Impika inkjet technology. The press prints 4,500 B1 (750 x 1060mm/29.5 x 41.7in) sheets per hour.

Commenting on the decision to sign up, Craig Bretherton, product and marketing manager at KBA UK, says: “We are proud to supporting The Print show as it will enable us to continue the phenomenal successes of Drupa 2016. 

“Our market share has risen steadily over the last few years and attendance at major events like the print show have contributed towards our successes.

“This is a great opportunity to network and inform clients of the latest developments at KBA.” 

A number of The Print Show's exhibitors have also been revealing why they signed early for the exhibition and their confidence in its plans for 2017. 

Steve Giddins, partner at Perfect Bindery Solutions, paid a special tribute to the organising team, explaining that the show’s setup is the main reason behind his decision to return. Giddens said: “I like the way the show runs and the size enables visitors to see everything they need to leaving time to ‘window shop’ all in the same day.”

Giddens also spoke positively about the change of venue for this year: “As soon as I arrived at the Telford Exhibition Centre, I could see that it was a seriously impressive venue. The proximity of good hotels and restaurants being under five minutes’ walk away seals the deal as far as I’m concerned.”

Meanwhile, Jack Wilmott, brand manager at Route 1 Print, praised his company’s success at previous shows, adding that he is confident of replicating this at the 2017 event. Wilmott said: “For us it is a great opportunity to meet lots of existing clients as well as talk to potential new clients. It gives us an opportunity to communicate what we are about in a way that just isn’t possible through magazine or online advertising on its own.

“With regards to The Print Show specifically, we really like that the show provides an alternative to shows such as Drupa and IPEX in that it offers huge numbers of small to medium printers as well as the large companies. While those shows are great in their own right, we definitely feel that they are focused more on those within the industry with larger budgets.”

Wilmott also acknowledged the addition of new co-located event SignLink Live as one of the key reasons behind Route 1 Print’s return this year. He added: “What really gave us the confidence to sign up for the show this year, on top of the two previous years being a great success was the addition of Sign Link live being held at the same location and time. We are definitely seeing the lines between the two industries blurring more and more each year with many printers branching out into sign-making or vice versa so for us it makes sense to attend.”

In addition, David Whiteley of new exhibitor Flex4, said it was while attending last year’s event that he saw tremendous opportunity for his company. He said: “I attended The Print Show at the NEC and could see from the number of visitors and type of exhibitor that we would benefit by having a stand. I don’t see the change of venue as being likely to affect this one way or another.” 

And for companies still unsure as to whether to sign up for the show, Print7tv.com, the media outlet operated by Print Monthly magazine, has released a special episode of its Print Show TV series that focuses on exhibitors at last year event and what they thought were the main benefits of attending.
