PBS announce world launch for Print Show

The Print Show will be the home of a world launch, with Perfect Bindery Solutions (PBS) announcing that they will be showcasing a 'revolutionary new book production system' from IML Machinery in Italy.

Industria Meccanica Lombarda’s new hard and soft cover perfect binder can perform end-papering, backlining, and book covering inline with a three-knife trimmer

The new One-Line combines the 1R600 binder and TR30 3-knife trimmer. Clamps, the gluing station, and cover scorers are all set automatically; the knife trimmer is also automated. Different options are available for the application of the glue—it can be applied via wheel-and-pot, nozzle, PUR, or hot-melt. The various features of the One-Line allow an easy switch between the making of standard paper-back books, to end-papering and back-lining for book block production.

It is the ‘holy grail’ of the on-demand book sector and The Print Show 2017 will be a watershed event—a real ‘I was there’ occasion

Operations partner, Steve Giddins, comments: “The new One-Line from IML is going to change the way the short-run book market works. It is one line that can do everything: paperback or hard cover, PUR or hot-melt, high volume or runs-of-one. It is the ‘holy grail’ of the on-demand book sector and The Print Show 2017 will be a watershed event—a real ‘I was there’ occasion.”

Carlo Bianchi of IML is confident its new range of bookbinding technology supplied by Perfect Bindery Solutions will help printers across the UK solve key challenges facing their business

PBS believes that the reception of its presence at The Print Show has been second-to-none, which is why the firm believes it will be the perfect place for the world launch. At last year’s show, the Perfect Box Solutions range was given its debut, and this contributed to such positive feedback. The range creates luxury boxes and packaging, and is great for firms wanting to bring packaging production in-house. It has been hugely successful since the launch at last year’s event.

Giddins continues: “The response following that show has been astonishing. IML have got a real feel for market trends before they become generally apparent, and short-run high quality boxes is a niche that has got massive potential.”

Industria Meccanica Lombarda’s headquarters is about 27 miles east of Milan

Not only are PBS treating the visitors of The Print Show to a world launch, but also to a further UK first. Imaging Solutions, which are based in Switzerland, have manufactured a new lay-flat photo-book system.

This new system has a format range up to 18 x 18”, and is perfect for the production of large-format books, albums, catalogues, and brochures. Printers will also be able to produce an image across a double-page spread seamlessly.

The Print Show will take place from October 11th to 13th at the Telford International Centre, and will include other exhibitors such as Canon, HP, and Konica Minolta.
