Six Premier staff members reached the summit of Snowdon together to raise awareness of its Young Explorers campaign

Recently Premier staff reached new heights when a group of six took to the mountains to embark on a journey to Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), Wales’ highest mountain which stands at 1,085 metres tall (3,560 feet).

The crew consisted of Dean Tustin, Lee Woodford, Kirk Stevens, Cedric Picardo, Andy Whiteside, and John Vickers, with the group aged from 30 to 57. Setting off from Premier’s head office in Minworth, they left early morning on Saturday April 30th, with a target of reaching the summit to raise awareness for the Young Explorers campaign.

Dean Tustin comments: “It all started on our lunch break. We’d been going out for a walk every lunchtime and decided that we wanted to challenge ourselves a bit more. For many of us, climbing Snowdon had always been an ambition.”

The daring team didn’t shy away from the climb, deciding to make their ascent via the infamous Pyg Track, a route that’s widely considered to be one of the most demanding. The walkers advanced to the Miners’ Track and up towards Llanberis Path, before reaching the summit of Snowdon.

It all started on our lunch break. We’d been going out for a walk every lunchtime and decided that we wanted to challenge ourselves a bit more. For many of us, climbing Snowdon had always been an ambition.

Tustin continues: “We’re a group of mixed ages and fitness levels but we helped each other to battle on and reach the top of Snowdon together. The views were stunning, as was the drink afterwards! Naturally, we’ve started planning our next challenge.”

Throughout the climb the team took the opportunity to raise awareness of Premier’s Young Explorer promotion. The campaign is targeted at helping The Outdoor Guide Foundation’s Waterproof and Wellies Project for Primary School Children. The intended outcome is to inspire children from all backgrounds to enjoy the outdoors and explore the natural wonders that surround them.

Coinciding with Premier’s launch of the Explorer range of papers, by the Navigator Company, the project is supported by CBeebies television presenter Gemma Hunt.
