St Brides hosting bookbinding competition

The St Bride Foundation is currently hosting an exhibition showcasing the winners of the Designer Bookbinders International Competition

The theme of this year's competition was William Shakespeare and there are 82 selected bindings from the competition, including all winners, currently on display.

The UK's Dominic Riley won the £10,000 first prize, with Eduardo Giménez of Spain taking the runner-up award.

Riley received the Sir Paul Getty Bodleian Bookbinding prizes sponsored by Mark Getty, in honour of his book-binding enthusiast father.

“St Bride Foundation is delighted to act as host to this major competition and stunning exhibition. The Foundation is the natural home for Designer Bookbinders and we are very proud to be associated with their stunning work,” says Glyn Farrow, chief executive, St Bride Foundation.

He adds: “This exhibition, the third Designer Bookbinders exhibition this year, is a fantastic showcase of the skill, ingenuity, and creativity of binders from across the globe. The exhibition will be open Monday to Friday from August 16 until September 20.”

Visitors to the exhibition, which runs until September 20, will also be able purchase a book featuring all entries into the competition.
