Stephens & George upgrades with Polar

Printing business Stephens & George has purchased a new Polar N 115 Plus and a jogger to replace an existing 2003 model Polar 115ED, as it seeks to enhance its finishing services.

The Polar N115 is Polar’s best-selling guillotine worldwide, with the Plus version featuring an 18.5cm colour display and touchscreen, as well as automatic graphic programming and graphic operator guidance.

The device will now support Stephens & George’s sizeable print operation, which comprises 230 employees and boasts an annual turnover of £30m.

“We have really sophisticated cutting at the plant, including Prinect Cut Manager and Polar Compucut for maximum efficiency,” says Andrew Jones, managing director of Stephens & George, adding: “We have long recognised that adding materials handling to a guillotine makes a significant impact on throughput and production efficiency.

“In the magazine market and for commercial work demand for the fastest turnrounds without compromise to quality, is key and the Polar cutting solutions are great, easy to run and very reliable.

“This order is a simple update of an older model but the additional productivity will be welcome given the additional output we expect from the Speedmaster XL 106 Push to Stop long perfector that will be delivered this autumn.”
