PRINTING United Expo 2021 cancelled

PRINTING United Expo, an in-person exhibition that was due to take place in Orange County Convention Centre in Orlando, Florida, has been cancelled due to the latest Covid-19 variant.

The event was expected to be one of many to aid in the return of live events and expos within the industry. PRINTING United advertised the event with the tag line: “Let’s bring the Printing Industry Together Again” promising to be a bigger and better event, thanks to the industry being able to reunite after the trials of the pandemic.

While it is disappointing for exhibitors and attendees that an in-person exposition won’t be feasible, PRINTING United Expo will still go ahead in 2022 at the Las Vegas Convention Centre. The reorganised event has been dated for October 19th- 21st which replaces this year’s date of October 6th-8th.

Ford Bowers, chief executive officer for PRINTING United Alliance, says: “We want to sincerely thank our vast industry partners, including exhibitors, members, and attendees for their collective support during this ever-changing landscape and time.”

The United Alliance board of directors felt the ability to hold a successful show had become hugely hindered by increases in Covid-19 cases, boosted largely by the Delta variant.

We conferred with dozens of exhibitors from all segments and sizes, regularly monitored attendee sentiment, and the weight of opinion supported the difficult decision to cancel this year’s show

Due to the uncertainty by the variant’s coverage, and the effects on registration/exhibitor participation, PRINTING United ultimately decided to call off the 2021 exposition.

“We conferred with dozens of exhibitors from all segments and sizes, regularly monitored attendee sentiment, and the weight of opinion supported the difficult decision to cancel this year’s show,” says Bowers.

Despite the cancellation, PRINTING United remains committed to supporting the industry. Company president, Mark J. Subers, says: “In an instance such as this, we set aside our own financial considerations when we cannot be sure that the ROI [return on investment] for the exhibitors and the attendee experience is exceptional.

“In 2022, we will continue to execute nothing short of an exemplary event experience for all involved.”
