Providing an overall solution

The commercial print industry in the UK is now stable, but has seen some tough times. What avenues of business growth are open to printers?

I believe that most commercial and corporate businesses these days want more from their service provider and are far more savvy in how they want to communicate with specific target audiences. Digital technologies have opened up a number of avenues over the last couple of years and we are seeing a trend towards increased multi-channel personalised direct mail and online digital marketing automation. Both are giant growth areas for most print businesses as well as short-run packaging.

Creative design now takes on a whole new look and feel with some of the finishing you can achieve and with new technologies across print engines and software platforms, Xeretec has certainly opened up some key differentials in bespoke media, which is where companies want to have a value add solution.

You are set to exhibit at The Print Show 2017, what key pieces of print technology will you be bringing, and what are your plans for it?

At Xeretec we are always looking to broaden our offering to the market. This year we will be showcasing marketing automation and personalised short-run packaging solutions with a great end-to-end campaign via our web-to-print—printed, finished, and packaged with a little treat inside. Our print engines will be the latest Xerox Versant range of technologies supported by EFI and the new HP dual roll six ink wide-format printing system with chromatic technology.

What are the common denominators of your most successful customers?

Our most successful clients all offer multi-channel services and have invested in automation driving efficiencies so they can offer a level of service delivery that is competitive for the multiple markets and their engaging concepts.

Businesses want to be hand held with new ideas and concepts that can be proven to show a sustainable impact on their target audience. All of our top clients offer these services.

Competition remains fierce in the digital print sector, what are the core strengths of your offering that has resulted in continued growth?

As Xerox’s largest service provider in the UK and Ireland, we are constantly developing and changing the way we communicate. Technologies drive change and certainly enhance the offering of what print business can provide to their clients, whilst opening up new avenues for growth. We see a constant focus on manufacturers pushing print engines which are driven by enhanced features, but the real value is in the service delivery you offer.

At Xeretec we do not just think about the product, it is more about the overall solution, whom you partner with, and the return on investment it will bring

At Xeretec we do not just think about the product, it is more about the overall solution, whom you partner with, and the return on investment it will bring. Our extensive knowledge and experience with what we can deliver is what differentiates us along with having market-leading multi-channel web2print and marketing automation technologies.

Do you think the UK needs an annual exhibition such as The Print Show, and why?

Traditionally, IPEX was the UK’s big print trade event, which most print companies based their larger buying decisions around every four years. I believe that trends have changed so much since the most recent recession that companies now tend to buy what they need as and when required. Since Northprint and Digital Print World ceased to exist a number of years ago, there has been a gap in showcasing what suppliers have to offer as well as the education for print business as to what is available on the market. With technology changes and new developments, I do believe The Print Show has brought a certain impetus back with the annual event.

What is the most technically advanced piece of print technology on your books, and why is it worth investigating?

It is not just one piece of technology which makes a difference. It is bringing different technologies to work in synergy together which delivers the most advanced solution. This is what we will be showcasing and why it is worth spending time with us at the show.
