The Best Technology at the Print Show

Brendan Perring asks: “What is your top piece of printing technology you are you bringing to The Print Show, and how can it help businesses improve their productivity and profitability?”

Committed to quality

This is a very difficult question, to home in on one particular piece of printing kit from our vast range of high quality Roland printers and print and cut devices, or indeed print media from the Grafi Print range, or the latest UV printer from GCC, when they are all so worthy. An extremely popular range may be easier, with the True Vis print and cut devices from Roland. Grafityp UK have been awarded the status of being the Roland number one UK dealer for four consecutive years, which indicates how committed we are to their complete range.
The True Vis SG-300 (762mm wide), SG-540 (1,371mm wide), VG-540 (1,371mm wide), and VG-640 (1,625mm wide) models give you the ability to produce high quality prints as well as contour cut on one device.

Being able to print and cut on the one machine, of course, will save you space in your workshop and doubtlessly money in your pocket. You do not have to use the print and cut facility every time, you can use the print or cut action of the machine individually. This versatility could give you the scope to diversify into offshoot areas of your business you did not think were possible and therefore increase revenue. The True Vis will produce posters and other large-format work just as admirably as it will produce contour cut decals and labels. They offer a perfect solution for the garment decoration trade too.

The True Vis machines are faster than their predecessors, use cost-effective, Greenguard Gold certified True Vis ink in large capacity cartridges with the VG range offering three different ink configurations. Flex Fire print heads produce outstanding quality colour prints and they have a Bluetooth enabled mobile control panel option. True Vis machines have new cutting technology too, offering increased downforce and accuracy for your cut graphics.

Grafityp will welcome the opportunity to demonstrate these machines at The Print Show.

Setting a benchmark

Tatsuo Murakami, managing director, Riso UK

Production print specialists have increasing demands placed on them. Their equipment needs to be fast, reliable, and efficient to ensure their customers’ work is carried out cost-effectively and accurately.

They rely on the right print solutions to help optimise their business and create a platform for future growth in a market where budgets are tight and margins even tighter.

Riso has consistently delivered these productive and efficient solutions, and are proud that The Print Show is a further opportunity to showcase the very latest in Riso cutsheet inkjet printers.

The undoubted star of the show will be the new tandem inkjet printing solution, the Riso T2. At 320ppm in duplex, it is, quite simply, a stunning piece of kit. And, for its small footprint, is one of the most productive full-colour devices available.

With the speed of post-print processes ever increasing and demanding higher print productivity, the Riso T2 has been developed as an ideal partner, to maximise efficiencies. In addition, it has been engineered to deliver enhanced durability and extend production life, all of which benefit the user.

With workflow in mind for the user, a great feature of the Riso T2 is that it can also handle native AFP, IPDS, and PDF files. This will improve productivity and versatility, particularly for high output production print that requires duplex work.

Members of the Riso research and development teams will be on hand at The Print Show for those wishing to understand more about how this unique technology sets the benchmark for production print.

There will be additional Riso technology on stand H08. It is an ideal place to be for the forward-thinking and growth-focused business.

Opening up applications

Ray Hillhouse, vice president, offline business unit, Morgana Systems

There will be two key product introductions at The Print Show from Morgana. We will be introducing the latest addition to our PUR Perfect binder range, the new Digi Book XL Pro, which incorporates several new features to address some specific applications we have found in the market.

The first important change to the new model is we have made it a single-phase machine. The previous version required a three-phase power supply, which limited its potential installation to larger print shops and factories that had access to three-phase power. The 300 XL Pro is now a 32-amp single-phase machine, and this will allow its installation in most commercial premises and print businesses.

The other key change, and perhaps the most significant, is the book format. Several machines of the previous specification were sold with special extended cover kits to allow for the production of books larger than A4 size. We also had a number of requests for landscape A3 or 11 x 17? finished size books.

This system is the most efficient nozzle system on the market, with fast start-up and shutdown and minimal wastage

The new 300 XL Pro now has an even larger cover kit fitted as standard, and can produce books with a spine length of up to 450mm. This provides the ability to produce landscape SRA3 format books, with spine thickness of up to 50mm, thus opening up another whole range of applications.

In addition to these changes, the machine is still equipped with the same hermetically sealed PUR glue application system. This system is the most efficient nozzle system on the market, with fast start-up and shutdown and minimal wastage. It has automatic cleaning and sealing of the head at the end of the production run.

The other key product we will be showing is an updated version of the Digi Fold Pro 385 with a new style creasing mechanism. The new style creaser has a quick blade change to allow an increased range of applications to be run, including complex perforated jobs.

Driving profit

Jeff White, general manager, small and medium business segment, EFI Productivity Software

Our Print Show exhibit, and the EFI workflow technologies within it, showcase the ways print-service-providers (PSPs) can drive more value and profit with workflow efficiencies that eliminate errors, streamline processes, and provide real-time data printers need to make smart management decisions.

The new Midmarket Print Suite Version five brings significant improvements for PSPs, including a new, award-winning Productivity Workbench with customisable dashboard and functionality specifically designed for the wide and super-wide-format printer. The Midmarket Print Suite 5.0 introduces specialised support for wide and super-wide-format inkjet printing that includes a specific super-wide-format database and Fiery XF discovery wizard tool. These enhancements will get printers up and running faster, providing greater estimating accuracy and planning all within a software environment that addresses the needs of the wide and super-wide-format printer.

PSPs have better communication between the sales and production teams through the Suite’s collaborative online environment

The Workbench provides users with greater efficiency, which provides live, up-to-the-minute information including Suite components and customer Pace Station widgets.

This advanced MIS/ERP workflow offers:

  • More robust complex scheduling capabilities
  • Improved estimating capabilities through the Suite’s core Pace MIS/ERP software
  • Advanced capabilities to allow the shipment of multiple jobs to the same address through EFI Process Shipper and Pace
  • Enhanced communication between Metrix component imposition software and Pace allowing for job ganging and job scheduling
  • Enhanced product support by allowing ad-hoc web-to-print products to flow through Print Stream to Pace
  • Support for third-party solutions including Sage software and Agfa Apogee prepress workflow with bi-directional communication

PSPs have better communication between the sales and production teams through the Suite’s collaborative online environment. The Suite allows users to import customer-supplied spreadsheets directly into the MIS that can substantially reduce the estimate and job detail data entry process. The EFI Midmarket Print Suite also offers the ability to lead less experienced professionals through questions and answers to create a standard estimate quickly and easily. As a result, users gain highly accurate estimates without extensively deep knowledge expertise.
