Drastic changes but positive trends
Putting together this issue of Print Monthly has re-affirmed to me just how impressive our industry really is. Whether it is the height of technological innovation for print finishing on p40, wide-format inkjet on p46, or the way in which software systems are being used to make print pack a punch on p28.
Of exhibitions and positivity for print
Hello dear readers, it is amazing to think that another year has spun by, and what a year it has been. We have seen another Drupa come and go, showcasing a startling array of technology that will underpin the future of the global print industry. Another key highlight for the UK print industry was of course the second year of The Print Show, which has been celebrated as a highly successful event.
From the most humble beginnings
The humble light emitting diode, or LED for short, has helped to revolutionise so many industries, with print right up there in terms of its impact. And to think that the very first iteration of this technology was developed for power button lights on the likes of washing machines.
There can be no doubt that 2016 will go down in history as a pivotal year in the history of the UK, and the print industry for that matter. Brexit has caused major political and socio-economic upheaval across Europe, but what is interesting is that our manufacturing industries, print included, seem to not only be doing business as usual, but experiencing tangible growth.
