Cupcycling – reducing paper cup waste
One of the first big stories I concentrated on during my time here at Print Monthly, was on the idea of cups and packaging that could be recycled. An issue surrounding the recycling of cups in particular, lies in the PE coating. It takes a special operation to split the PE lining from the paper fibre, which can then be re-used. Now, James Cropper has introduced Cupcycling, which focuses on stripping the PE lining and recycling the paper fibre into its range of colourful products.
How will the Carillion collapse affect industry?
The Carillion collapse shocked many in the UK, and when a company such as this goes bust, the whole country sits up and listens. What will be most interesting over the next few weeks, is whether any companies that were subcontracted by Carillion suffer he same fate. Unfortunately, many have already been laid off, with printers and sign-makers also taking a hit by losing the contracts. The government has tried to step in, but the industry will wait and see what will bet their own fate.

I hope you enjoyed the Christmas break and are refreshed ready for a new year. January is the perfect time for new beginnings, whether it is a personal goal you have made or a business one.
