ABS UK embarks on new journey
ABS has thrived in the challenging conditions of the print industry, and is a good example of how to maximise potential by diversifying into different markets. On top of its print services, the company acquired an IT firm in North Wales, which has increased its monthly revenue. ABS UK has also developed and rebranded, moving the company forward. Having the ability to offer more to customers, through services and products, can result in increased customer leads and relationships.
The global print industry sits at something of a cross roads. Our foreign cousins in developing nations are actually still experiencing something of the ‘golden age’ of print, as they are yet to deal with the transition and contraction that the digital media explosion has caused in highly-developed nations. This is simply because the internet speeds and lack of IT infrastructure in these countries means that print is doing the same job it has for thousands of years.
Colorado investment “opens up a new world”
In today's competitive market, investing in new equipment can allow printers and sign-makers to diversify into new areas which can bring more revenue. Aspen has invested in the Océ Colorado, which has allowed them to replace three printers with one, reducing footprint, and open up new markets for the company.
De La Rue to challenge contract decision
Brexit provokes strong debate between friends, family and strangers on the internet. Now, with the passport row adding to the fire, its interesting to see different opinions on whether a printer in the UK should produce the new blue passport. One particular print industry member, the British Print Industries(BPIF)was particularly in favour of De La Rue challenging the decision to award the contract to a Franco-Dutch firm.
