CMYK Hub: A company that really cares
CMYK Hub's origins lay in Australia, but embarked on a new adventure when they branched out to the UK last year. Last week, I spoke to the factor manager, Lee, who says that the success is all down to the hard work and dedication from the staff.
Aspiring journalists to benefit from print
I have covered The Printing Charity thoroughly recently, in light of their Print Futures Awards, and I admire what they do for our industry. As a journalist, it also makes me happy to know that they have now joined with the National Council for the Training of Journalists as a funding partner. The NCTJ run a scheme called the Journalism Diversity Fund, which aids aspiring and promising journalists from various backgrounds.
Last week, I interviewed Stuart Howarth, who is the son of Syd Howarth - founder of Newton Press. After an apprenticeship and a stint in the RAF, he set up the print firm in the early 1960s. Since then, Sy has enjoyed running the firm with his sons, and even the third generation of Howarth's. Not only is it a look a print veteran, but it also opens the doors to revolution of print over the last 50 years and more.
You might not think about there being much to the print technology sector of guillotines, however, after looking into the subject for my feature this month (Guillotines, page 69) I have discovered that there is a lot you should know before making any purchasing decisions in this sector.
