Kernow Coatings has launched a digital synthetic media for printing with less plastic
Kernow Coatings has launched its new KernowPrint ECO PRO Lite digital synthetic media which enables printing with 40% less plastic.
Available in six thicknesses ranging from 130µm to 360µm or 5mil to 14mil, the media is the result of extensive research and development and has been designed as an environmental option that doesn’t compromise on quality.
Manufacturers and print providers can’t always ensure that the product will be recycled at its end of life, so therefore Kernow has designed a product that uses a synthetic base containing up to 40% natural minerals instead of non-renewable fossil fuels. This means the plastic content has been reduced by 40% and the environmental footprint has also been significantly reduced.
Regardless of whether a product is environmental or not, the quality still needs to be of a high level in order to sell. Kernow Coatings says it has considered this and says its ECO PRO Lite product maintains “exceptional” print quality and durability whilst being environmentally responsible.
Due to being made from a PP base, Kernow Coatings says the ECO PRO Lite product has better flexibility than PET meaning it is ideal for applications that need to be folded or creased such as brochures, wristbands, luggage tags, and rigid products such as steel hangers or golf scorecards.
Phil Bartlett, head chemist and technical director at Kernow Coatings, says: “At Kernow Coatings, we believe in the power of innovation that cares for our planet. KernowPrint ECO PRO Lite represents a major milestone in our journey towards more sustainable printing solutions.
“We understand the increasing importance of eco-conscious choices in today’s world, and ECO PRO Lite allows printers to make a significant positive impact while maintaining top-notch print quality.”
