The exhibition is a collaboration with the British Journal of Photography, the world’s oldest and most influential photography title.

The journal explores rich and timely stories of art, culture, politics, and society, which are claimed to have ‘set the bar’ for photographic journalism.

The exhibition gives photographers the chance to be featured on JCDecaux screens throughout high-streets, train stations, airports, and bus shelters.

A total of 100 winning images are chosen for the screens while 200 shortlisted images are published in the Portrait of Britain book, published in partnership with Hoxton Mini Press.

The indie publisher based in East London, makes collectable photobooks in order to preserve the importance of physical prints and books.

The company also highlights the importance of green messaging by working to plant a tree for every book bought, while also aiming to be a carbon negative company.

JCDecaux’s screens showcase the changing face of our diverse and inclusive nation, while promoting the exhibition and photobook.

We are delighted to be working with the British Journal of Photography once again to bring this wonderful exhibition to a national audience, turning our digital channel into a national portrait gallery throughout January.

Chief commercial officer at JCDecaux UK, Mark Bucknell, says: “The 100 photographs in this year’s Portrait of Britain exhibition show the power of the public screen of out-of-home to celebrate and champion the many faces of our communities, underlining the resilience and diversity of our nation.”

Bucknell adds: “We are delighted to be working with the British Journal of Photography once again to bring this wonderful exhibition to a national audience, turning our digital channel into a national portrait gallery throughout January and reaching people when they are out and about in cities across the UK.”

The portraits feature prolific figures such as Marcus Rashford MBE, Sir Mo Farah, and beloved actress Miriam Margolyes.

The photos also highlight NHS workers, LGBTQ+ activists, and barrier-breaking youngsters.

The campaign displays the work of photographers such Nico Froehlich, Christopher Owens, and Amara Eno. Physical copies of The Portrait of Britain Volume 4 will start shipping at the end of January.
