Launched on Tuesday March 26th, the new imagePRESS V1000 cut-sheet digital colour press has been designed to address production challenges through progressive technological features.

The pandemic saw a drop in employment in a number of sectors and the new printer has been designed with a number of features to enable businesses to work better, faster with a compact footprint of 3sq m.

One example is the option of a Multi-Drawer Paper Deck in conjunction with the use of the POD XL and Bypass trays which accelerates the machine’s paper input capabilities to produce applications such as banners, brochures, and booklets.

A brand-new feature is transfer technology which enables even colour distribution and removes the risk of sticking when switching between media weights.

The printer also features new integrated POD-SURF fixing technology which controls the temperature of the fixing belt, enabling print speeds of 100ppm regardless of the media type and weight from 52 to 400gsm.

The imagePRESS V1000 raises the bar on productivity and can handle a very broad variety of media for unlocking extra potential

A new two-step registration correction means the machine can auto-duplex banner sheets up to 1.3m and remote alerts mean operators can complete jobs away from the press with the reassurance that they will be notified if consumables are running low.

Automation is a key feature of the imagePRESS V1000 and an inbuilt spectrophotometric sensor has been included to save time and reduce the level of skill required for colour control. This is achieved through calibration and adjustment at the push of a button, with no offline quality checks needed.

An optional Sensing Unit also automatically detects prints that don’t match registration and colour settings and adjusts these settings throughout the print run.

Another feature is a cooling system which cools paper immediately after fixing to avoid smudges and other damage for optimum quality. This feature also provides environmental benefits as it removes the risk of wastage from warming, sticking, or bricking.

Joe Courts, head of product marketing at Canon UK, says: “The imagePRESS V1000 raises the bar on productivity and can handle a very broad variety of media for unlocking extra potential. By responding to the needs of our customer base, we have brought a fresh perspective to digital toner press design, exploring innovative ways to tackle everyday production headaches and helping print businesses to work better, faster.”
