Kodak reveals “fastest inkjet on the market”

Kodak recently revealed what it is calling “the fastest inkjet on the market”, the new KODAK PROSPER 7000 Turbo Press at its inkjet facility in Ohio.

The new KODAK PROSPER 7000 Turbo inkjet press has been described by Kodak as a “game changer”

The press is capable of printing speeds of up to 410m per minute or up to 5,523 A4/letter pages per minute using KODAK Stream Inkjet Technology, which Kodak says makes it 35% faster than its nearest competitor.

With these increased speeds, Kodak says the new machine enables commercial, publishing and newspaper printers to compete even more effectively with offset, shifting to more long run jobs and from conventional printing processes to inkjet.

Alongside its speed, the PROSPER 7000 Turbo can be used with a range of substrates and for various applications. The press can process a web width of up to 25.5in with a variable cutoff length of up to 54in, and can print onto both coated and uncoated stock, newsprint, and speciality and recycled papers.

Three optimised print modes enables the PROSPER 7000 Turbo to meet varying requirements of printers and the applications they are producing. The Quality mode is ideal for direct mailings, catalogue, and magazines and is described by Kodak as “roughly comparable to offset printing”.

The game-changing speed of the PROSPER 7000 Turbo will help commercial, publishing and newspaper printers increase efficiency by shifting more long-run jobs from conventional printing processes to inkjet.

The Performance mode is ideal for textbooks, fiction books, and other medium ink coverage, whilst the Turbo mode is ideal for newspaper printing with low ink coverage.

Jim Continenza, executive chairman and chief executive officer of Kodak, comments: “The game-changing speed of the PROSPER 7000 Turbo will help commercial, publishing and newspaper printers increase efficiency by shifting more long-run jobs from conventional printing processes to inkjet.

“We believe digital technology will grow in importance as a complement to offset as ongoing supply chain issues continue to increase the cost of prepress. This new press reflects our continued commitment to investing in innovation that helps our customers succeed as the industry evolves.”
