Gary Seward, managing director of Pulse Roll Label Products says the company has come a long way

The company says it has even more to celebrate as it reflects on the challenges of Covid-19, Brexit and a “volatile” global supply situation.

Founded by Gary Seward and Dave Whelan in May 2001, Pulse started out in a small office in the South West of England. The business grew so much over the first two years, it moved into its own premises in Yate in 2006. At this point, Whelan emigrated to Canada and Seward continued to oversee the business.

Biennial appearances at Labelexpo Europe starting in 2003 helped the company to develop good international relations. In 2012, Pulse moved to a larger production facility in Yate where it is still based today.

In recognition of its overseas success, Pulse was presented with The Queen’s Award for International Trade in 2015 for “outstanding growth in overseas sales over a three-year period”.

Without doubt it has been a challenging 14 months for the entire UK label industry. But, despite this, Pulse Roll Label Products remains stronger and more resilient than ever

Seward, managing director of Pulse Roll Label Products says: “We have come a long way since we started out 20 years ago. Without doubt it has been a challenging 14 months for the entire UK label industry. But, despite this, Pulse Roll Label Products remains stronger and more resilient than ever.”

For Seward, contributing factors to the company’s continued growth has been a great team and strong partnerships with customers, distributors and suppliers.

Seward adds: “I’d like to thank all those who have supported us so far and I look forward to new, exciting opportunities that I am confident the next 20 years will bring.”

Most recently, Pulse has partnered with Addmaster UK to develop a new range of antimicrobial varnishes and coatings called PureSafe.

Pulse recently launched a microbial label solution

PureSafe is comprised of coatings and varnishes from Pulse and Biomaster antimicrobial technology from Addmaster UK.

The varnishes are ideal for non-direct food contact packaging applications. Using Pulse’s UV flexo matt and floss foil blockable and overprintable varnishes, the solution provides an antimicrobial finishing solution for labels.

Seward says: “Combining Biomaster additives with our high-performance UV flexo varnishes guarantees fast, effective antimicrobial protection for the lifetime of the label or package, keeping the printed surface hygienic and reducing the risk of cross-contamination.

“Biomaster can be safely added to varnishes and coatings without affecting the product’s properties, performance on press or the final aesthetic finish. At a time when we are all acutely aware of how easily germs and bacteria can spread, PureSafe with Biomaster can provide printed surface antimicrobial protection for consumer-packaged goods.”
