William Smith has run training for over a decade to enhance the skills of suppliers and installers

In order to meet the demand for architectural films and vehicle wrapping, William Smith Group 1832 has built on the training academy side of the business and celebrated its recent success.

Two additional members have joined the company as training managers who will help bolster its Architextural and Vehicle Wrap training.

Mike Szwacki, who has worked with William Smith for a number of years, joins following his success as a finalist of the World Wrap Master competition where he also won European Wrap Master 2022 at FESPA.

Along with Szwacki is John Raine who has eight years’ experience with William Smith and a wealth of knowledge and practical skills. Raine will oversee the majority of the Architextural training which covers both 3M DI-NOC and Cover Styl’ architectural finishes application techniques.

The new trainers join well known training and applications manager Gill Harrison and will help develop two new courses for 2022: the Advanced Vehicle Wrap Course and the Architextural Kitchen Wrap Training Course.

The vehicle wrap course will offer more experienced wrappers the chance to enhance their skills in groups of four, in order for each attendee to get one-on-one tuition to perfect their skills.

It’s a great resource. It’s a group of people who are all there to help each other, share photos of work, answer technical questions, or even help out on a job if we’re ever short of labour.

The Architextural course has been added as a response to the increase in kitchen refurbishments that have flourished over the last two years.

Both courses will specialise in the films and materials available, as well as intricacies in applying to specific areas like doors, mirrors, and handles.

Invotex, a supplier and installer of architectural films recently visited the academy to further its employees’ knowledge.

One of the attendees Chris says: “It’s a great resource. It’s a group of people who are all there to help each other, share photos of work, answer technical questions, or even help out on a job if we’re ever short of labour. Plus, it’s always good to see how other installers are getting on.”

Speaking of the benefits of the 3M DI-NOC, Chris adds: “There are so many benefits of using architectural film in interior refurbishments; in fact, that is the beauty of the product. The design potential is unique with this solution; in the 3M DI-NOC range alone, there are more than 1000 patterns in the portfolio - providing you with everything you need and more from an interior design perspective.”
