BBC TV broadcaster Kate Silverton hosted the awards event last year

Originally known as The Newspaper Awards, the awards rebranded in 2015 with a new format and look for the event. The event invites over 500 news media industry executives, journalists, sponsors and suppliers to celebrate the best in news media publishing – but organisers are clear to highlight they are not editorial awards.

Awards include The Fujifilm Grand Prix – ‘The Total Package’ prize from the headline sponsor; National Newspaper of the Year, sponsored by manroland Goss Web Systems; Regional Daily Newspaper of the Year, sponsored by Aktrion; Young Achiever of the Year, sponsored by UPM; Newspaper Print of the Year sponsored by Agfa; and the International Printed Innovation of the Year, sponsored by The Printing Charity.

Our two panels of judges have seen a fantastic array of print, digital and commercial entries from all around the world

Gary Cullum, director of newsawards, says: “This is another bumper year for newsawards. Our two panels of judges have seen a fantastic array of print, digital and commercial entries from all around the world which has resulted in an exciting list of 2019 nominations.”

Printing companies nominated for awards include St Clements Press, JPIMedia, Newsprinters and Reach Printing Services.

Since the first awards show in 1997, over 12,000 newspaper executives from national, regional and weekly newspaper publishers have attended alongside the companies supporting the industry.

All winners will be announced at a black tie gala dinner on May 8th, at the Royal Lancaster London.
