Packaging solutions manufacturer, BOBST will demonstrate innovations within flexible packaging, labels, folding carton, corrugated board, and services at drupa 2024.

The company will do this through a live-experience “concept machine” on its stand at the exhibition.

Ahead of drupa, BOBST has launched two new major features for its BOBST Connect cloud-based digital platform.

Workflow with Job and Recipe Management enables customers to integrate BOBST machines in their production and design workflows, and the Energy Monitoring feature enables users to measure their energy consumption and costs in real time.

BOBST has also announced plans to develop BOBST Application Management across the four industries, a consulting service for workflow automation, colour and process optimisation, end-to-end converting improvements, and regulatory compliance.

Sustainability

Boosting its sustainability offerings, BOBST has stated that all new machines purchased in 2024 will feature at least between 10% and 20% efficiency and productivity improvements including reductions in waste, substrate, and energy use.

Flexible Packaging

Included in the company’s list of recent launches within flexible packaging are smartGRAVURE, a machine with new elements of digitalisation and automation; new AI-driven intelligent Metallizing Assistant for vacuum metallizing; and the EXPERTLAM 900 multi-technology coater and laminator.

Corrugated Board

For corrugated board, BOBST has developed new robotic solutions for both loading and palletising; launched the FFG (flexo folder gluer) portfolio EXTENSION which enables printing and die-cutting with flexibility and the new JUMBO from simple ‘printer-slotter’ up to a full line including stitching, taping, and in-line folder-gluer.

The manufacturer has also launched the MASTERFLEX HD+ new generation of the reference flexo printer featuring a new feeder, upstream pre-feeder, and stacker outlet. Capable of achieving 15,000 sheets per hour, equalling 53 million sq m per year, this new machine results in an 8% boost in productivity.
