Brighton print business, One-Digital, has added a Xerox Iridesse production press to its arsenal of print solutions in order to expand its output capacity.

One-Digital, which offers litho, wide-format, and digital print solutions, installed the Iridesse press chiefly to expand its bespoke and short-run print and packaging capabilities.

The Iridesse combines CMYK with up to two speciality dry inks including gold, silver, pink, white, and clear. The speciality inks allow for the addition of speciality embellishments such as metallics to brochures, marketing collateral, and short-run packaging in a single pass.

The production press also comes with Xerox’s AI-guided PredictPrint media manager software. The technology provides cloud-based stock management capabilities designed to speed up and simplify press baselining processes, therefore shortening the amount of time until production.

The press will be used in tandem with an existing Xerox iGen5 press previously installed at the production facility. The iGen 5 is equipped with advanced automation features in comparison to previous models, as well as an optional fifth print station and sheet capabilities of up to 35 inches.

Speaking of the new press, Steve Poland, managing director at One-Digital, says: “The Xerox Iridesse is a game-changer for our business, allowing us to attract new clients and expand into high-value markets like bespoke packaging and luxury print.

“By offering advanced features like metallics and vibrant speciality colours, we’re delivering results that help our clients stand out while driving growth for One-Digital. This investment reflects our commitment to innovation and staying ahead in a competitive industry.”

Kevin O’Donnell, head of marketing, graphic communications, at Xerox UK, adds: “One-Digital continues to lead in delivering creative, high-impact print solutions

“The addition of the Xerox Iridesse reinforces its reputation as an innovator and provides significant value to clients. Backed by our dedicated service team, this installation positions One-Digital for continued success.”

In November 2024, Xerox launched a new series of digital presses with the tagline: “Everything is Possible”.

Much like the Xerox Iridesse production press, the new presses include a new toner formulation along with a redesigned LED system for ten-bit processing. According to Xerox the devices can also achieve 2400 x 2400 imaging along with smooth colour transitions and speeds of up to 65 to 81 pages per minute.

The releases are part of significant restructuring strategies which began in 2024. Since the restructure plans were announced, Xerox also acquired manufacturer of laser printers and imaging products, Lexmark, in in a deal valued at $1.5bn (£1.21bn), inclusive of assumed liabilities.
