Canon Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) has announced the hiring of Shinichi ‘Sam’ Yoshida as its new president and chief executive officer.

Yoshida will succeed Yuichi Ishizuka, who is retiring after seven years in the role and a 44-year career with Canon including in Japan, USA, and Canada. One of Ishizuka’s career highlights was the launch of Canon’s Cinema EOS series of cameras in the US.

Yoshida was previously based at Canon Solutions and Financial Services in the USA, where he worked as chairman and chief executive officer of both companies, as well as executive vice president and general manager of the Marketing Strategy unit.

Among his achievements while working at Canon, Yoshida was part of the original team that established Canon Virginia, the company’s main manufacturing site in the Americas. Other core areas of expertise include manufacturing and recycling.

According to a statement from Canon, in his new role Yoshida will be tasked with “bolstering and growing existing core businesses while capitalising on the brand’s reputation for imaging and printing technology and solutions expertise”.

Canon has also announced that Yoshida will focus on expanding Canon’s offerings into new areas and sectors including B2B imaging, industrial printing, and commercial print.

Yoshida will assume his new role at Canon EMEA from March 1st, 2025. He takes over a regional sales organisation which has operations in 120 countries, employs over 12,000 people and reportedly contributes about a quarter of Canon’s annual global revenue.

Speaking about his new role, Yoshida says: “Canon is the market leader in imaging and print technologies with millions of customers throughout EMEA.

“This diverse and exciting region is full of opportunity and I am honoured to be leading the business through the next phase of innovation and growth."
