High-security printing solutions provider, Cartor Security Printers, has been awarded a five-year contract to produce postage stamps for Swiss Post, the national postal service of Switzerland.

Under the deal – a new client partnership for Cartor – the company will work closely with Swiss Post to produce a range of printed stamps. UK-based Cartor has produced stamps for over 180 postal administrations around the world.

Cartor secured the contract after a competitive tendering process, with its work in hybrid stamp solutions featuring 2-D barcode serialisation proving a deciding factor. The company says this innovation substantially reduces counterfeiting and stamp reuse losses.

Cartor estimates the deal will generate between $3.0m (£2.3m) and $4.0m (£3.1m) in additional revenue, subject to demand and additional options.

Andrew Brigham, managing director of Cartor, comments: “We are extremely pleased that Swiss Post has placed their trust in Cartor to support them with their security printing requirements. A key differentiator in this tender was our experience in developing and implementing hybrid stamp solutions with 2-D barcode serialisation.”
