Amberley Labels has invested £500k in a new Digicon Series 3 modular finishing system, enhancing its luxury label-making capabilities and boosting its output

Dorset-based Amberley Labels has enhanced its digital label print offering with the installation of a new multi-embellishment solution.
Amberley purchased a new ABG Digicon Series 3, a modular finishing system with roll-to-roll and roll-to-sheet capabilities, to support its continued growth into luxury markets.
Part of the Coveris Group, Amberley has significantly expanded into premium sectors such as wines, spirits, health and beauty, and fragrance in recent years.
Representing a roughly £500k investment, Digicon Series 3 has been purchased to complement Amberley’s existing digital print suite, which includes a narrow web Kurz DM-Jetliner, as well as a HP Indigo 6K with Spot Master colour automation.
The Digicon Series 3 offers a fully integrated, single-process solution, designed to support growing luxury, multi-embellishment label production. The solution is capable of cold foil and hot foil embellishments, offering a new ‘Big Foot’ 50-tonne hot foil and embossing module.
The Series 3 also offers silk screen embellishments as standard, as well as enabling the creation of 3D tactile finishes including braille. The latest finishing capabilities of the Series 3 also introduces new ink applications such as scratch-off, glow-in-the-dark, iridescent, and photochromic finishes.
Among the reasons cited for the purchase, Amberley highlighted the Digicon’s improved durability with enhanced UV and chemical resistance, a higher gloss finish on absorbent materials like premium wine substrates, and multiple colour foils applied in a single pass.
Commenting on the purchase, David Richards, managing director of Amberley Labels, says: "Continued investment in digital capabilities places us at the forefront of technology.
“Our latest investment means that we now offer every single digital conversion capability available within the market, giving our customers the quality, variety, and sustainable variability to enhance their brands both on and off the shelf. Supporting further growth in luxury markets where these capabilities are required as standard, this futureproofs our print and embellishment capabilities."
