Colourbridge South West has boosted its finishing capabilities with the installation of a new Duplo DC-618 slitter/cutter/creaser, alongside a DC-F100 integrated folder

Colourbridge South West, a print shop in Ivybridge, Devon, has upgraded its finishing capabilities with a new Duplo DC-618 slitter, cutter, and creaser alongside a DC-F100 integrated folder.
The purchase was reportedly made by Colourbridge to boost its efficiency and embrace automation features, with Alan Dakin, owner of Colourbridge, investing in the machine after visiting Duplo’s UK showroom.
Dakin was originally in the market for a second-hand folder/creaser but changed his mind after visiting the showroom. Dakin says: “When we visited the showroom, the DC‑618 and F100 caught my eye and I knew straight away that I wanted them.
“Neil Scott, the Duplo showroom manager, was great, showing me all the exciting products Duplo have to offer, but the DC-618 really stood out as giving me the best bang for my buck.”
The DC‑618 is a fully automated finishing system capable of performing up to six slits, thirty cuts, and twenty creases in a single pass. The solution is designed for full-bleed applications like business cards, brochures, and greeting cards.
Colourbridge paired the DC‑618 with a DC‑F100 inline folder in order to finish jobs like folded leaflets and greeting cards in one pass, as well as integrating Fiery Impose workflow software.
The automation features of the solutions was key to the purchase, for a print business with high foot traffic and minimal staff. Dakin adds: “Our latest installations from Duplo are a compact, high-performance duo that has transformed our workflow and opened up exciting new business opportunities.”
Jason Davies, regional sales manager for Duplo, says: “Knowing Alan’s business, I just knew that a simple creaser folder wouldn’t cut it for him.
“With the amount of foot traffic he receives, his entire production grinds to a halt and so he needed the automation that the DC-618 could offer him. He even installed and integrated the Fiery with the DC-618 before we could get to it. It’s a powerful combination that has freed him up to really give his customers the headspace and help they need.”
The print shop aims to add an automatic feeder to their DMM‑150 in the future to support larger runs. The new devices work alongside a range of print solutions including the Xerox Versant 280 mid-production colour digital press, as well as a number of presses for wide-format, garment, and drinkware applications.
