Launched in 1986 from Ashby de la Zouch, Leicestershire, Vivid offers a wide range of finishing solutions to the international market

Polidano Press, a print and packaging service provider based in Malta, has reported significant cost and time savings after integrating the Zip Core Packaging Suite from Vivid Laminating Systems.

Zip Core is a CAD/CAM packaging workflow software that has been created to optimise the packaging design process.

The software offers a library of ready-made templates, packaging presets, and 3D rendering capabilities designed to improve turnaround times and allow design concepts to be delivered with greater speed and efficiency.

The suite is designed to integrate seamlessly with tools Polidano already relies on such as Adobe Illustrator, which simplified the transition process. The company also highlighted the user-friendly and intuitive interface as being a core reason for its decision to use Zip Core.

Polidano has reported that these efficiencies have led to reduced costs since integrating the software, as well as significantly faster turnaround times.

Tristan Galea, in-house designer at Polidano Press, says: “As the designer using the software daily, I can confidently say that Zip Core Packaging Suite has been a game-changer in our packaging workflow.

“This tool has made my work significantly more efficient. It’s intuitive, reliable, and packed with powerful features – especially the 3D rendering tools and extensive template library – which allow me to go from concept to presentation in a fraction of the time it used to take.”

Galea also highlights the support from Vivid as being a key value-add, saying: “The support from the team has been outstanding.

“Whenever we’ve faced an issue – whether software-related or even from the machine side – the team has been incredibly responsive. Most problems are resolved within minutes or just a few hours of contacting them, which keeps everything running smoothly and minimises downtime.”

Polidano Press was already a customer of Vivid, having already purchased a VeloBlade cutter in order to bring its cutting and finishing capabilities in house. The move towards in-house finishing was driven by the need to reduce reliance on external providers, which the company found would often struggle to meet tight deadlines.

Speaking of why the VeloBlade was chosen, Galea adds: “Out of all the options we considered, the VeloBlade stood out for its strong customer support and versatility.

“It offered exactly what we were looking for – a reliable, efficient system backed by a team that clearly understands the needs of businesses like ours.”
