UPM reaches phase II of Sappi venture
Material manufacturers, UPM and Sappi, have reached the next stage of their Joint Venture which was first announced in December last year
Sappi will exhibit simultaneously at both Drinktec and Labelexpo Europe in September, showcasing its full portfolio of label papers and packaging solutions
Materials manufacturer, Sappi Europe, has announced that it will bring its complete portfolio of label papers and packaging solutions to two European industry events in September.
Sappi will exhibit simultaneously at both Drinktec in Munich from September 15th to 19th and Labelexpo Europe in Barcelona from September 16th to 19th, with 2025 marking Sappi's first time participating in Drinktec.
At both shows, visitors will discover Sappi’s full arsenal of solutions, from self-adhesive face stock papers and release liners to wet glue label solutions.
Sappi's wet glue label portfolio has been developed to provide proven solutions for demanding applications.
This includes its double-coated Parade Label WS range, which is designed to offer high wet-strength and alkali-resistant properties, with a functional coating on the reverse side specifically engineered for returnable bottles used in drinks applications.
Available from 65 to 80gsm, Parade Label WS offers high whiteness, brightness, and surface quality specifically engineered for strong printing and finishing results.
The range also includes Parade Label WS Linen, which features improved label separability and reduced static adhesion in comparison to previous models, allowing labels to be washed off easily when preparing bottles for reuse.
Sappi's showing at Labelexpo Europe will also include its Parade Face portfolio of face stock papers and release liners.
The 80gsm Parade Face High Gloss solution is tailored to premium label applications, boasting high smoothness and print reproduction for high-end packaging across premium food products, premium home care products, and luxury beverages.
The 77gsm Parade Face Semi Gloss label paper will also be on show, which can be utilised across flexo, rotogravure, offset, letterpress, and digital printing systems.

Sappi also recently announced its entry into the book paper market with the launch of Galerie Book, a mechanical uncoated paper tailored to the specific needs of the book publishing market.
Galerie Book has been engineered to perform consistently across multiple printing technologies including heatset, coldset, and digital printing. After successful trials with a range of customers across Europe, commercial orders of the new paper product are now being delivered.
