The Imaging Centre bets on B2 format with new HP Indigo 18K

Spectrum Innovations has invested in a new HEIDELBERG digital printing system alongside the Prinect workflow, in order to boost speed and print quality
Stockport-based printer, Spectrum Innovations, has invested in a new HEIDELBERG Versafire LP digital printing system with the aim of increasing output and overall print quality.
Established in 1922, Spectrum provides a range of litho, digital, and screen printing services. Among the products that it produces, the company is described as the UK’s largest library card supplier, utilising a variety of materials including biodegradable card, key fobs, and bookmarks.
The Versafire LP is designed to deliver high-volume output and compatibility with a wide range of materials, incorporating colour measurement and inline registration with the aim of ensuring high accuracy and reliability.
The Versafire LP can produce up to 4,500 A3 sheets per hour and supports a wide array of substrates, including materials up to 470gsm.
The press can switch between offset and digital output, with colour adjustments reportedly able to be completed within seconds. The press also incorporates HEIDELBERG’s Prinect digital front-end (DFE), with additional tools which can assist both the front office and production aspects of a business.

After exploring our market options and completing a great deal of testing, we determined that the Versafire satisfied our needs.”
Before the purchase of the machine, HEIDELBERG staged a demonstration of the Versafire LP for the Spectrum team alongside the Prinect DFE, which not only lead to the purchase but also resulted in Spectrum moving its core DFE over to Prinect.
Doran adds: “The investment has created a buzz amongst the team. There has been a real lift in mood and a sense of optimism; we genuinely have a happier team now.”
