Print Library has announced its purchase of a HEIDELBERG Speedmaster CX104 with a fake out-of-home campaign showcasing a supersized print press traveling around Belfast

Northern Irish packaging firm, Print Library, has announced the arrival of a HEIDELBERG Speedmaster CX104, a press and plate machine that will reportedly enable the business to double production capacity.
The new equipment purchase is part of a £1.5m investment to enhance Print Library’s kit and output.
The CX104 is HEIDLEBERG’s global bestseller designed for commercial, label, and packaging printing, with more than 6,100 units currently in use worldwide and a record of 42 million sheets printed on CX104s in a single year.
Michael Thompson, who co-founded Print Library with business partner Geoff Truesdale in 2001, highlights the advantages of the new press, saying: “This model is world class and is going to be an absolute gamechanger for our output.
“Integrating it into our set-up means a significant scale-up in capacity, output boost, and even more efficiencies in our operation. The business is growing, with more demand than ever from the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, and introducing this world-class tech is exactly what we need to take Print Library to the next level in our 25th year.”
As part of the announcement of the new press, the Print Library team enlisted the help of Belfast-based CGI studio, Squint Creative, to create a new fake out-of-home (FOOH) video showcasing the press, which has been posted on social media in the last week.
The video shows a supersized HEIDELBERG printer landing at iconic spots around Belfast while printed items float, fly, and land around it.
This includes the CX104 crash-landing at the top of Cave Hill before shooting out packaging from drinks brand, Dunville’s. A colossal box from the Belfast whiskey brand then makes its way to the city centre, landing on the roof of White’s Tavern.
The online clip also sees the HEIDELBERG printer sailing down the Lagan river as it delivers packs of Ewing’s 'Belfast Fishmonger’s’ salmon into the water.
The final scene takes place further down the river as three towering packaged boxes from beauty brand, B Bold, fly from a rooftop HEIDELBERG press, through the ring of the iconic 'Nuala with the Hula' statue, and land by Queen Elizabeth Bridge.

Print Library co-founder, Geoff Truesdale, says: “This video is the perfect way to shout about the big investments and bold steps we’re making at Print Library.”
Anthony Heaney, co-founder of Squint Creative, adds: “This was a really fun project to work on and we love how it turned out.
“Geoff and the team were keen to reflect the bold steps they’re taking on the business side with Print Library, and gave us the freedom to go bold on the creative side too. Working up an FOOH at big spots around Belfast, creating something a wee bit out there, is always a class thing to do. We really hope people like it.”
Print Library’s latest investments follow a £500k spend in 2025 on an advanced computer-aided design (CAD) prototyping machine and advanced inspection cameras for the factory’s glue line.
