Konica Minolta Business Solutions UK has expanded its partnership with Color-Logic to bring new metallic and decorative effects to the label market using the company’s AccurioLabel 400 press with white toner.

The collaboration builds on Konica Minolta’s existing support of Color-Logic’s digital embellishment software for their sheet-fed cut-sheet printing presses.

The new technology allows metallic labels to be produced using silver label stocks and Konica Minolta’s white toner technology, without the need for post‑press foiling or specialist finishing.

Using the solution, label producers can create up to 924 metallic colours, including 50 shades of gold simply by combining white toner with metallic substrates.

Mark Geeves, co-founder and director of sales and marketing at Color-Logic, says: “Anything printed on a silver label stock can be transformed into premium metallic effects, with predictable results and faster time to market. It’s all done in one pass of the press, there’s no need for post‑finishing, and designers can visualise the effects before going to press.”

According to Konica Minolta, the approach mirrors the value proposition of solutions from MGI digital embellishment, but with the advantage of being produced entirely inline.

Color-Logic’s software suite, which includes a lifetime licence, allows designers to create metallic and decorative effects directly within Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, without significant masking or manual colour manipulation. The workflow includes a structured colour system for metallic effects and a visualisation tool to preview embellishments before production.

Geeves adds: “Konica Minolta customers now have a predictable, designer‑friendly workflow for producing metallic labels that stand out on the shelf. We’re delighted to deepen our partnership and support the UK market with tools that make premium embellishment accessible to everyone.”

The new solution aligns with Konica Minolta's core product strategy in commercial digital printing, which heavily prioritises inline finishing capabilities. The manufacturer has focused on reducing manual touchpoints and production bottlenecks by including post-processing and finishing within the core print output of their machines, particularly across its Accurio lines.

The enhanced partnership is designed to open new opportunities for Konica Minolta customers in specialty applications including cosmetics labels, short‑run and versioned packaging, collectibles, and limited‑edition products.

Malcolm Smith, category manager for Professional Print at Konica Minolta Business Solutions UK, says: “Our partnership with Color-Logic continues to evolve in ways that deliver real, practical value for customers.

“By extending these capabilities to the label market, we’re helping converters and commercial printers unlock premium metallic effects with exceptional simplicity. It’s another example of how Konica Minolta is supporting customers to differentiate, grow, and reach their potential.”
