C&T Matrix, a manufacturer of creasing matrix and ejection rubber for the print and packaging industries, has expanded its portfolio of die-cutting solutions with the addition of a new Platen Cleaner, a reusable device designed to remove contamination from platen surfaces and help converters maintain optimal machine performance.
The Platen Cleaner aims to combat a common issue in carton-converting environments, where platen surfaces can gradually be affected by a buildup of carton board dust, oil residue, oxidation, and rust.
Over time, this contamination can impact the registration accuracy of die-cutting machines, increasing make-ready times and leading to excessive patch-up, which reduces overall production efficiency.
The Platen Cleaner has been engineered to tackle these challenges, restoring heavily oxidised, rust-stained, and contaminated platens to a clean, smooth working condition.
By removing accumulated deposits without compromising the platen’s integrity, the device can help converters maintain consistent die-cutting performance while extending the working life of equipment.
The Platen Cleaner can be reused, with only the cleaning pads needing to be replaced. The device can also be used alongside an endoscope camera probe, enabling operators to inspect hard-to-reach areas.
Howard Mead, global sales director at C&T Matrix, says: “The condition of the platen has a direct impact on die-cutting performance, yet it is often overlooked. Our Platen Cleaner provides converters with a practical and cost-effective way to remove years of contamination and can be used as part of regular maintenance.”
