Sunderland-based premier food wholesaler, Nico Rossi, has installed an IGS Cobalt SP800 single pass printer in order to boost its operational efficiency and increase capacity.
Nico Rossi provides a range of food products, ingredients, and packaging solutions to restaurants, cafés, and pop-up food venues throughout the Northeast of England.
As demand for fast, customised food packaging continues to grow across the regional hospitality sector, Nico Rossi set out to find a high-speed printing solution capable of keeping pace with its rapid distribution network.
The business spent several months conducting an evaluation of single pass printers, travelling across the UK and Europe with the aim of assessing the market’s leading options.
The search concluded with a trip to Caldicot, Wales, home to the main showroom and demonstration facility of International Graphic Supplies (IGS).
Following a live demonstration of the Cobalt SP800, Nico Rossi determined that the printer delivered the single-pass speed, output quality, and substrate versatility required for high-volume wholesale packaging.
The Nico Rossi team also noted that they felt reassured about the supplier’s commitment to after-sales service and ongoing technical support after an in-depth conversation with IGS.
Roger Andrews, managing director for Nico Rossi, says: "We spent months looking at options across Europe to ensure we found the absolute best single pass technology for our operation.
“When we visited the IGS showroom in Caldicot, the Cobalt SP800 immediately stood out – it met every single requirement we had for speed and reliability. Speaking with current IGS customers confirmed that their team delivers first-rate after-sales backup, which gave us complete peace of mind in making this investment.”
Speaking about the installation process, Andrews adds: “The installation went smoothly and we were already producing live customer orders by the second day of installation."
With the Cobalt SP800 now fully operational at its Sunderland headquarters, Nico Rossi can produce branded pizza boxes, kraft bags, cartons, and short-run promotional packaging on demand, with its in-house capability allowing the wholesaler to respond quickly to custom requests from local eateries.
Peter Flynn, managing director of IGS, says: "It is a pleasure to work with a forward-thinking business like Nico Rossi as it continues to support the vibrant food and hospitality industry across the Northeast. The Cobalt SP800 is built specifically to handle the demands of fast-turnaround, short to medium-run packaging, making it a perfect fit for their wholesale growth."
