Roland DG has announced the launch of the TrueVis MG2 UV printer series, which offers integrated print and cut technology, a newly developed printhead, and expanded automation capabilities
Wide-format print press manufacturer, Roland DG, has announced the launch of the TrueVis MG2 series, its next-generation UV printer and cutter range comprising of the 64-inch MG2-640 and 30-inch MG2-300.
The new printer series boasts significantly higher productivity, print quality, advanced application capabilities, and lower running costs than its predecessors, aiming to offer a plethora of capabilities within a single integrated UV print and cut solution.
Roland DG's integrated print and cut technology enables users to print and contour-cut in a single workflow, with the goal of simplifying production and improving efficiency.
At the heart of the MG2 series is a newly developed printhead paired with advanced waveform control technology, which has been calculated to deliver twice the productivity of the previous MG series.
The MG2 series incorporates Roland DG's latest image quality technologies including improved ink placement accuracy, Variable Dot Technology allowing ink droplets of different sizes to be fired on demand, and specialised True Rich Color print settings designed to produce vibrant graphics, smooth gradations, and highly detailed prints.
In addition to standard CMYK, optional orange and red ink channels expand the colour gamut and increase Pantone coverage, with the goal of allowing users to reproduce brand colours more accurately and offer increased vibrancy.
The MG2’s True Rich Color technology inside the VersaWorks RIP software can further enhance output by balancing vivid colour reproduction with natural skin tones and neutral greys.
The press series offers single-pass multi-layer printing enabling up to five layers to be printed simultaneously by stacking combinations of CMYK, white, and gloss inks.
With this technology, users can combine full colour with white undercoats, gloss finishes, and textured or embossed effects, allowing greater depth, dimension, and impact to be added to printed graphics.
Producing multiple layers in a single pass also removes the need to reverse-feed media between layers, helping to reduce the risk of misalignment and media jams.
With different layer configurations available depending on the application, alongside 72 built-in texture libraries, users can explore a range of premium decorative effects and differentiated products.
New 1,000ml ink pouches reduce the frequency of ink replacements, with the aim of helping businesses operate more efficiently and reduce costs.
The MG2 series has also been developed with versatility in mind, supporting a broad range of UV applications including window graphics, backlit displays, stickers, labels, packaging prototypes, promotional materials, and speciality decorative graphics.
Combined with an integrated take-up system which automatically winds the printed media, the MG2 series can support continuous multi-layer production and unattended operation, including overnight printing.

The MG2 series is the latest in a series of recent kit releases from Roland DG, with the manufacturer having announced the launch of the TrueVis AG-640, VersaObject IO-300, and VersaObject RC-300 series in quick succession.
The AG-640 is the world’s first latex printer with integrated cutting functionality, enabling users to contour, cut, and print with a single device.
Meanwhile, the VersaObject IO-300 and RC-300 series are two new industrial UV printing solutions designed to help businesses meet growing demand for high-mix, short-run manufacturing and product decoration.
Roland DG will demonstrate five of its latest products at The Sign Show this month, with the manufacturer encouraging visitors to ‘Make Your Mark’ by investing in its technology.
Back at the show for a second consecutive year, Roland DG will invite attendees to learn about its TrueVis VG4-640, TrueVis MG2-300, TrueVis AG-640, VersaObject IO-300, and VersaObject RC-300.
Demonstrations will run throughout each day of The Sign Show, which, co-located with The Print Show, will take place from September 29th to October 1st in Hall 1 of Birmingham’s NEC.
