Gallus Group, a subsidiary of Heidelberger Druckmaschinen (HEIDELBERG) and a manufacturer of label printing technology, has announced a planned evolution of its leadership team to support the company’s next phase of growth.

As part of the leadership change effective from November 1st, Dario Urbinati will transition from his role as chief executive officer of Gallus Group and join the board of directors, before assuming the role of president of the board on January 1st 2027.

Urbinati says: “In my new board role, I will remain closely connected to Gallus. Having helped guide the business through a successful period of transformation and growth, I felt it was the right time to step back from day-to-day operational responsibilities while continuing to support Gallus in long-term strategy, innovation, and key customer relationships.”

Michael Bsirske, current Gallus Group chief financial officer, will serve as its interim chief executive officer.

Bsirske comes to the role with extensive leadership and financial experience gained through senior management roles within Gallus, HEIDELBERG, and other industrial and professional services businesses.

Speaking about his appointment, Bsirske says: “My priority will be to ensure that Gallus continues delivering success for our customers. That means staying close to the market, listening carefully to what converters need, and working closely with our customers, partners, and suppliers to deliver solutions that make a real difference to their businesses.”

In addition, Uwe Boerner became head of global sales on October 1st while retaining his existing responsibility for key accounts, succeeding Thomas Schweizer who is pursuing a new opportunity outside the company.

The leadership transition follows Gallus’ expansion of its digital portfolio including the release of the Gallus One and Gallus Five digital and hybrid industrial inkjet label presses, as well as the ongoing development of the Gallus Experience Center in St Gallen, Switzerland.

The transition aims to ensure continuity in the company’s strategic direction, with a focus on customer partnership, technological leadership, and long-term value creation.

Commenting on the announcements, Dr David Schmedding, chief technology and sales officer at HEIDELBERG, adds: “Dario and the Gallus leadership team have successfully guided Gallus through a period of transformation and growth, and we are very pleased that Dario will continue to support the business as part of the board.

“We have the right people to lead this next phase of the business and build on the strong foundations already established, supporting continued innovation, operational excellence, and long-term customer success.”
