International Print Day has reportedly generated over 200 million social media impressions since launching in 2014

International Print Day has returned, with print professionals and enthusiasts around the world joining for the 13th annual event, which aims to share ‘printspiration’ across social media.

This year, the online event focuses on the theme of ‘Print Works’, exploring how skilled people come together to produce printed communication that gets noticed, remembered, and delivers results.

The organiser of International Print Day, Print Media Centr, has asked participants to share projects, ideas, and applications that demonstrate the strength and effectiveness of print media.

According to Print Media Centr, International Print Day has generated more than 200 million impressions across social media since launching in 2014.

Those taking part have been asked to include the hashtags #IPD26 and #PrintWorks so that posts can be easily found and become part of a global conversation.

Deborah Corn, founder of International Print Day and Intergalactic Ambassador to The Printerverse at Print Media Centr, says: “Thirteen years later, it is still incredible to see how International Print Day is celebrated around the world and how people make it their own.

“This year, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is celebrating International Print Day for the third time, with three events bringing together printers, partners, and students. International Print Day provides a backdrop for everyone to celebrate and share printspiration.”

International Print Day has led to several print and print-related businesses celebrating the power of print. Micropress Printers recognised the day on LinkedIn, posting: “In a world of endless pings and pop-ups, print gives your audience the space to focus. That is why #PrintWorks.

“For 50 years, Micropress has helped businesses put that power to work, from short runs to large scale projects. Here’s to print!”

Commenting on behalf of Canon UK, Duncan Smith, country director for Production at the company, says: “International Print Day is a great opportunity to celebrate the creativity and commercial value of print. Under this year's #PrintWorks theme, it's important to recognise how innovation continues to open up new creative possibilities and business opportunities across both production and commercial printing.

“At Canon, we're seeing how innovations such as UVgel technology, alongside finishing capabilities like FLXfinish+ and FLXture, are helping print service providers push creative boundaries, combining matte and gloss effects with tactile finishes to produce more engaging applications.”

While many have emphasised their own printed projects, B2B public relations company, AD Comms, has posted some of its favourite campaigns and projects with colleagues highlighting what they've seen online and in person.

Alexa Mills, creative director at AD Comms, says: “During a recent trip back home, I noticed a design and print studio had filled its window with Post-it Notes carrying different messages, including one simple statement: ‘Print is still powerful.’ I loved how such a simple, low-tech idea delivered such a high-impact message.”

Also posting on social media, The Printing Charity adds: “This year's theme, #PrintWorks, celebrates what print makes possible, from books and packaging to signage and marketing campaigns. It also recognises the skill and creativity of the people behind it all. At The Printing Charity, supporting those people is at the heart of what we do. We're here for everyone who works or has worked in print, paper, packaging, graphics and publishing, and their families.

“Today, we're celebrating the people who make our sector what it is.”
