Hosted by Girls Who Print, Women’s Print HERstory Month coincides with Women’s History Month and tells the stories of the “fierce, fabulous females of print”, as well as the younger generation entering the industry or considering the move into print as a career.

Running from March 1st to 31st, Women’s History Month champions and encourages the study and celebration of the role of women in American history.

Today also marks International Women’s Day which runs every year on March 8th and raises awareness of discrimination and inequality, and celebrates women’s achievements. The theme for 2023 IWD is Embrace Equity.

Now in its 14th year, Girls Who Print provides resources and professional networking to women in print and graphic communications through educational initiatives, events, conferences, and the Girls Who Print Podcast series playing on Podcasts from The Printerverse. https://podcasts.printmediacentr.com/podcast-category/girlswhoprint/

Girls Who Print also offers a free mentoring programme and has a ‘SWAG store’ with designs of the Women’s Print HERstory logo by Christine Alexander, owner of Creative Squirrel Studio.

Having first launched in 2019, the fifth annual Women’s Print HERstory Month sees Girls Who Print call on women in the print industry to share how they help their customers and partners succeed.

These stories are being told via Q&A’s on girlswhoprint.net and through social media via the hashtags #PrintHERstoryMonth and #GirlsWhoPrint.

As well as those already operating in print, Girls Who Print is also encouraging students looking for internships or work to take part to share how they could contribute to the success of a print business.

“A big part of our 2023 mission is to provide visibility and promotion of our global members,” explains Deborah Corn, Girl #1 at Girls Who Print and founder of Print Media Centr, adding: “Many women have changed companies and positions over the last three years or are looking for work.

“Students are looking for internships and to start their careers. Throughout March, we will let everyone know where participants are, what they do, how they foster client, partner success and business success, and how to connect with them.”

Corn continues: “Even if women haven’t changed jobs, it’s a great opportunity to remind everyone they’re still here and making a difference. All posted content will be shared across Girls Who Print and Print Media Centr channels.”

There is still time to take part in the 2023 Women’s Print HERstory Month Q&A with questions including ‘What ONE word describes your professional mission for 2023 – any why?’, and ‘How do you help customers and partners succeed within their print and marketing endeavours?’. The full questionnaire can be found here, and the deadline is March 15thhttps://girlswhoprint.net/wphm-2023-qa/

Later on in the year, more celebrations of the women within the print industry will take place with Girls Who Print Day on October 5th. Launched in 2012, this event is an annual celebration of the industry’s network of women in print and graphic communications.
