BOBST has revealed two key business moves as it ramps up its involvement in packaging production

Manufacturer of substrate processing, printing, and converting equipment for the label, flexible packaging, folding carton, and corrugated board industries, BOBST, has made some business moves in recent months.
The company has acquired majority share in Dücker Robotics in line with its vision of the entire packaging production line being connected and automated. BOBST has also increased its stake in CITO Group which produces components for the converting and die-making industries.
Dücker Robotics is described as a “world leader” in the use of robots in loading and palletising in the corrugated board sector. BOBST has acquired 70% of the equity of the company as part of a strategic agreement which closed on April 28th.
According to BOBST, the synergies between the two companies will enable the development of “novel solutions and approaches” and will accelerate BOBST’s leadership in printing and converting.
Jean-Pascal Bobst, chief executive officer of BOBST, says: “In an era where converters are facing higher demands than ever due to the booming global demand and specifically in e-commerce market, while simultaneously facing challenges in shortages of manpower, automation has never been more important for our clients.
“Dücker Robotics has 20 years of proven leadership in the development of robotic systems for the most sophisticated converting machines, and we are very excited to see what we can achieve together.”
BOBST has also increased its stake in CITO Group to 90% following the retirement of managing director Jürgen Mariën who has sold his remaining shares to the company.
CITO will continue to run independently with long-term director of sales and R&D Oliver Kellermann having been appointed co-managing director alongside existing co-managing director Thomas Gerner.
“This evolution will be completely seamless, with no disruption to the way CITO is run or to the provision of its very high standard of quality, consistency, and services,” says Alex Volery, Tooling Division director of BOBST.
“For BOBST, CITO, and our customers, this strengthened collaboration is very exciting, with two of the leading suppliers in the packaging and tooling industries working hand in hand. This allows even more co-development of innovative products, deeper connections between our two R&D departments, and ultimately even more value delivered for our customers.”
