Fishersgate-based label manufacturer, A4 Labels, has announced the launch of its new Ocean Action Labels range, which is made using ocean-bound plastic
A4 Labels, a family-owned label manufacturer based in Fishersgate, West Sussex, recently launched its new Ocean Action Labels range, which is produced using ocean-bound plastic.
The company says the solution is a way for brands to reduce reliance on virgin fossil-based materials while helping “to tackle marine plastic pollution at its source”.
The range includes a white and clear top-coated PP film made from chemically recycled ocean-bound plastic, and is ISCC PLUS certificatied using the “mass balance” approach.
Also highlighted is the fact it is chemically recycled and holds the same performance qualities of virgin PP film, so brands don’t have to alter existing processes or equipment.
A4 Labels says the new range uses ocean-bound plastic waste which is at high risk of reaching the sea from coastal areas with poor or non-existent waste management schemes. According to the company’s research, ocean-bound plastic is estimated to account for around 80% of plastic marine litter.
The company says the launch builds on its existing sustainability commitments, including its Eco-Pledge partnership with Seven Clean Seas, and reflects A4 Labels’ efforts to help brands find new ways to reduce their environmental impact.
A4 Labels states: “To date, via its partnership with Seven Clean Seas, A4 Labels has supported the removal of 4231kg of plastic waste from the ocean and cleaned 29,154 metres of Indonesian coastline – equivalent to 266 football fields - one of the regions most affected by marine pollution.”
