The BPIF has launched the Employer’s Guide to Understanding Apprenticeships 2026, providing employers an overview of how apprenticeships work

Yesterday [February 9th], The British Printing Industries Federation (BPIF) launched a new apprenticeships guide for employers, released to coincide with the first day of National Apprenticeship Week 2026.
The guide from the BPIF’s Training subsidiary, titled 'Employer’s Guide to Understanding Apprenticeships 2026', is designed to give employers a clear and practical overview of how apprenticeships work, the benefits they bring, and the support available throughout the full apprenticeship journey.
The release of the guide marks BPIF Training’s contribution to this year’s National Apprenticeship Week theme: ‘Skills for Life’. The aim is to help businesses understand how apprenticeships can support recruitment challenges, upskill current staff, and build long-term capability within teams.
Designed for both employers new to apprenticeships and those looking to develop existing staff, the guide brings together information on apprenticeship levels, funding, recruitment, onboarding, and progression.
It also includes detailed support for ‘off-the-job’ training, mental health, performance management, and understanding English and maths requirements.
To support the launch, BPIF Training also ran a new online employer briefing titled ‘Apprenticeships Explained in 20 Minutes: What Employers Need to Know’, which took place today [February 10th].
The session gave employers a short introduction to how apprenticeships work, including funding, incentives, time commitments, and how to get started.
Details on further events will be announced by the BPIF Training in due course, both on the events section of its website and on social media.
