Baker Labels invests in new press

Baker Labels, a 50-year-old UK trade label printer, has invested in a new HP Indigo 6k which is joining its digital department which has used HP technology since 2006.

The latest acquisition is an upgrade to Baker Label’s old HP Indigo WS6800 which was acquired in 2014.

To make room for the new press, the digital area underwent a major reshuffle to make room for the larger press which replaces the WS6800.

The digital department uses three HP Indigo presses and two Screen Inkjets while the flexible packaging division BakPac uses a HP Indigo 20k press.

Steve Baker, managing director of Baker Labels, says: “This latest HP Indigo 6k press with ILP was a natural progression as we needed to update our original 6800.

“It’s our first to include an in-line primer unit. We currently coat our materials offline, so this gives us a few more options. We have a policy of ensuring our staff have the best equipment to produce top quality work with the least number of issues. This install will ensure the digital division is covered for a few more years.”

The new press includes features like HP Indigo Spot Master and the new Spectrophotometer leading to four times faster colour calibration and on the fly job colour scorecards and performance reports.
