The company has signed an agreement to occupy Rum Runner Works in the centre of the city

Provider of integrated digital, print, and imaging solutions, Ricoh has announced the opening of a new Digital Experience Centre in Birmingham City Centre.
The new space will be located in Rum Runner Works which Ricoh has signed an agreement to occupy from October 2023.
The building is the former location of the 1970’s Rum Runner Nightclub which is based near Broad Street and overlooking Gas Street Canal Basin. The location offers a variety of internal and external event spaces as well as a unique mix of period and modern architecture.
Ricoh will now relocate 60 staff members to a new office and will also create a new Digital Experience Centre to showcase its digital software and workplace products to customers from across Europe.
The move demonstrates Ricoh’s transformation from a print-centric organisation to a value-added workspace integrator which it hopes to expand on in the future.
The new premises has also been chosen to accommodate for Ricoh’s hybrid approach to working as the space is smaller but more open and agile than its previous premises.
Kevin Maslin, vice president digital innovation at Ricoh Europe, comments: “Our customers frequently ask us how they can create a more efficient and productive workspace that enables engagement and attracts employees of all ages into the office.
“Here in Birmingham, we have created a new office that demonstrates what can be achieved by harnessing new technologies and innovations. This is more than just a workplace; we have created an intelligent, data-driven space that is operationally efficient and enhances the overall employee experience. We can’t wait to welcome customers to show them what our vision for the workplace of the future looks like.”
The new office will be occupied by data scientists and developers from the Ricoh digital experience team (RDx) and will showcase solutions like RICOH Spaces, smart lockers, and room panels.
