Koenig & Bauer Durst has ramped up its production of its VariJET 106

Koenig & Bauer Durst has revealed it is scaling up its VariJET 106 production due to high demands for digital solutions in the folding cartons market.
The company predicts this to continue to accelerate and as a result is ramping up its build program. The news comes as two beta sites are opened with the first commercial customer starting live production in the second half of 2023.
Printing at the first beta site of the VariJET 106 B1 single-pass digital press for folding carton markets started this month in Europe with the second due to begin imminently.
The first joint development between Durst and Koenig and Bauer, the VariJET 106 is described by Robert Stabler, managing director of Koenig & Bauer Durst as “combining the best of both worlds of Koenig & Bauer’s Rapida 106 technology and all the digital know-how and expertise of Durst”.
Stabler adds that the installations represent huge statements to the market with the presses tailored to individual requirements, providing opportunity for those companies that can optimise their production and reduce costs whilst offering new high added value business models.
Capable of producing up to 5,500 sheets per hour, the press uses water-based inks that comply with all the main food security standards and are also de-inkable, enabling the applications to be recycled at end of life.
