Coveris has won a host of awards at this year's Environmental Packaging Awards, including a Gold Award, two Silver Awards, and one Bronze across multiple categories

Packaging manufacturer, Coveris, has received a host of awards at this year’s Environmental Packaging Awards (EPA), including the Gold Award for Sustainable Packaging Business of the Year.
The EPA, organised by Packaging News, aims to highlight the industry leaders shaping the future of sustainable packaging. This year’s event took place at The Kia Oval venue in London on June 24th and 25th, with dozens of prizes up for grabs including Recycler of the Year and the Environmental Champion Award.
Coveris received the Sustainable Packaging Business of the Year award for a range of its recent work. This includes releasing a range of new sustainable packaging solutions, creating data-driven environmental targets, navigating legislative change, and taking steps towards delivering on its ongoing commitment to becoming a ‘no waste’ company.
In addition to this prize, Coveris also secured a Packaging Project Gold Award, two Silver Awards, and one Bronze across multiple categories.
In the Packaging Project Chilled/Frozen category, Coveris received a Gold Award for its MonoFlexP PaperFeel film developed for Lidl’s Butcher's sausage range, produced by Cranswick. The recyclable monomaterial pack comes with a unique paper-like feel and finish, designed to offer both environmental savings and strong visual and tactile appeal.
Coveris also received three further honours for its business performance and packaging project innovation.
Coveris received a Silver Award in the Sustainable Investment Project of the Year category for its nitrogen generation system at its Spalding site, which enables the specialist linerless label facility to produce its own nitrogen – thereby delivering measurable environmental benefits.
A Silver Award for Recycler of the Year was also presented to the ReCover Paper recycling facility, recognised for processing over 10,000 tonnes of production and customer waste annually and supporting the circular economy within Coveris’ Paper Business Unit.
Finally, a Bronze Award in the Packaging Project Food-on-the-go: Takeaway category was awarded for Coveris’ RecyclaLite lined wrap, developed in collaboration with food manufacturer Samworth Brothers.
RecyclaLite features an ultra-thin plastic lining, designed to reduce the amount of material used without compromising recyclability or product integrity.
Christian Kolarik, chief executive officer of Coveris, says: “Sustainability is more than a commitment at Coveris, it is embedded at the very heart of how we operate.
“Being awarded Gold in the Sustainable Packaging Business of the Year category is an incredible honour and a reflection of our No Waste vision and the outstanding progress we’ve made on our ESG journey. This recognition is testament not only to our innovative spirit but also to the impact we are making across the packaging value chain.”
Coveris was also recently named a finalist in the Packaging Europe Sustainability Awards in the ‘Best Practice’ category, for the role of its ReCover Paper recycling facility. Winners of the awards will be announced this November at the Sustainable Packaging Summit in Utrecht, Netherlands.
