Intelligent Finishing Systems (IFS), which supplies finishing brands such as Horizon, Tecnau, Foliant, BaumannPerfecta, Petratto, SCS Automaberg, and Italdibipack in the UK has highlighted what will be shown at drupa.

Horizon will be launching the 500 cycles an hour Horizon BQ-300 fully automated single-clamp binder as well as the Horizon HSF-50D sheet feeder which can be part of the iCE StitchLiner Mark V, roll to booklet saddlestitcher.

IFS says the BQ-300 has a shortened job change over time and a new template feature while the HSF-50D allows for easy switching between roll feeding mode to cut sheet feeding mode, allowing for variable pagination production.

Another machine from the Horizon portfolio will be the new Horizon SPF-2000 booklet maker, an evolution of the Horizon SPF-200 system.

The stand (Hall 6, Booth F21-3) will demonstrate many examples of automation and robotics such as the inclusion of smart book solutions with an inline cut sheet press and robotic arm book production system which incorporates technology from Ricoh, Horizon, and Hunkeler.

Eric Keane, IFS managing director, comments: “Horizon’s newest evolutions and portfolio developments are focused on delivering streamlined and smooth end-to-end production with minimal human touchpoints. This drives the most productive processes while reducing the demand on skilled staff freeing them up to focus on areas where they can have greater positive operational impact.”

Other brands represented by IFS in the UK and showing technologies at drupa include baumannperfecta (Hall 15, Booth E20), Foliant (Hall 6, Booth F32), Tecnau (Hall 8a, Booth B41), and Petratto (Hall 11, Booth D41 for the main product range, Hall 6, Booth F42 for digital solutions and folding and gluing).

Baumannperfecta will showcase digitisation, automation and network integration; and Foliant will showcase its range of laminating machines, a pallet feeder, and a film loader. Technau will present new end-to-end solutions with enhanced automation on its own booth and across partner stands; and Petratto will showcase its post-press paper and board processing and converting solutions.

Keane adds: “Ways to complete high quality, short run, quick turnaround work, faster, more efficiently and cost effectively will be the focus for many drupa visitors. Our partner suppliers have responded to this need with numerous new technologies all aimed at easily managing today’s more complex job mix in a streamlined way that reduces the pressure for skilled employees.”

Drupa 2024 will take place from May 28th to June 7th in the Dusseldorf Exhibition Centre, Germany.
