Sappi and Kapag unveil new plastic-free food packaging solution

Specialist papers company, GF Smith, will now offer Gmund’s full range of paper options, including its range of eco-conscious offerings made from alternative fibres
Specialist papers company, GF Smith, has announced an exclusive partnership with Bavarian paper mill, becoming its sole supplier in the UK.
The partnership will bring Gmund’s entire premium paper options to GF Smith, including the full Gmund Colors range. According to a statement by GF Smith, it will bring “an unparalleled range of premium paper options to creatives, designers, and printers throughout the territory.”
First founded in 1829, Gmund offers a range of specialist paper options, including a range of eco-conscious products.
Its recyclable ‘Mother Earth’ collection is made from 50% alternative fibres such as grass and cereal waste in combination with FSC-certified virgin fibre. The material is also manufactured with no chemical treatment.
Gmund’s offerings also include its ‘bier papier’, made from waste from the Bavarian brewing industry, including hops and malt.
GF Smith is also set to unveil a full rebrand, designed by communications agency Templo. Details of the rebrand will be revealed at an upcoming multi-city speaking event titled ‘New Dimensions: The Future of Paper’.
At the series of talks, GF Smith’s global brand director, Ben Watkinson, and Templo founders Pali Palavathanan and Anoushka Rodda will share details of the rebrand and how it aligns with GF Smith’s future goals.
The event, hosted in partnership with Gmund and design services company, It’s Nice That, will include dates in London, Manchester, and Glasgow.
The current GF Smith range includes specialist options for lithographic and colour laser printers, as well as machine specific options including for HP Indigo, Xerox iGen, and Kodak Nexpress.
