The next generation of print were honoured with Rising Star Awards last week

The Printing Charity honoured its 2023 Rising Star Award winners at the House of Lords last week.
Hosted by Printing Charity President Emeritus Lord Black of Brentwood, the ceremony took place amongst the backdrop of the River Thames and celebrated the achievements of this year’s award winners.
Members of the print, packaging, paper, publishing, and graphics industries all joined the Printing Charity to celebrate the winners who each received grants of up to £1,500 for further development.
This year saw a number of records for applicants and the awards themselves with Bluetree Group taking home a total of five awards, and Faber Exposize and Northern Flags taking home four.
There has also been an increase in role diversity amongst winners with awards being handed to people in roles from administration, communications, and design, to editorial, finance, and sustainability.
There was also a fairly even split in terms of gender with just over half the winners being women.

Neil Lovell, chief executive officer of the Printing Charity, comments: “The 2023 award winners joining our constellation of Rising Stars once again show the wealth of emerging talent in the print, paper, packaging, publishing, and graphics sectors.
“Particularly key this year is that our winners are drawn from a broad range of job roles, covering a full spectrum from traditional disciplines to new technology. This, and the diversity of training options being funded by the awards this year, shows the enthusiasm of young people to grow their career within our industry, and the range of different opportunities within it.”
Lovell continues: “There truly is a role to fit every skillset; an important message that we think needs to be better understood by young people looking to forge their careers in dynamic and vibrant organisations.
“Print is a vibrant, rapidly evolving industry in which to build a career, and the awards have underlined this. I’m looking forward to watching our winners’ careers progress.”
More information on each winner and how they will use the funding to further their careers and expand on their skills can be found here.
The Awards were supported by Unite the Union, the Publishing Training Centre, Dynamic Print, Fedrigoni, and McLays.
