Replacing the Cobalt PRO, the latest model offers up to 20% faster production while combining high-resolution plate-making with laser etching capabilities in a single machine

Inkcups has announced the launch of the Cobalt Pro+, the latest addition to its range of laser plate-makers and the replacement model for the Cobalt PRO.
The CO₂ laser machine will be the highest wattage laser available in the Inkcups Cobalt line, with the supplier saying it is up to 20% faster than other options in its range.
Billed as a flexible solution for printers or departments that require both laser etching and plate-making capabilities, the Cobalt Pro+ features an etching area of 460 mm x 640 mm.
Meanwhile, the laser plate-maker produces high-resolution graphics up to 1500 dpi on a variety of plates including DuraLaze and exposed polymer, while the 30W laser can also be used for engraving promotional products.
In addition, Inkcups says a closed-loop DC servo motor ensures greater continuous shaft power at higher speeds than competitive lasers and it also enables greater due to the continuous movement.
Ian Bedford, senior project engineer at Inkcups, comments: “The Cobalt range of laser plate-makers delivers fast, state-of-the-art plate-making and etching in a single system offering the flexibility of being able to create plates for pad printing and etch promotional products.
“With the introduction of the new Cobalt Pro+, users can now achieve results up to 20% faster, helping them to respond more quickly to customer demand and increase productivity without compromising quality.”
